A third game for mobile devices, PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, Super Meat Boy Forever, will be released in 2020, where instead of playing as Meat Boy trying to save Bandage Girl, you instead play as either Meat Boy or Bandage Girl trying to save their baby daughter Nugget who has been kidnapped by Dr. Fetus, who also makes a return as the Big Bad.

Super Meat Boy Forever is an upcoming independent video game developed by Team Meat for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, iOS, Android, Microsoft Windows and Linux. Originally planned as a mobile-only version of Super Meat Boy,[2]Super Meat Boy Forever was gradually developed into a full-fledged sequel featuring a new control scheme and randomly generated levels.[3]
Gameplay[edit]
Super Meat Boy Forever expands on Super Meat Boy's challenging gameplay, as well as the main villain Dr. Fetus. Meat Boy and Bandage Girl's child Nugget has been kidnapped by Dr. Fetus and the couple must work together to rescue her. Both characters can kick and punch enemies and must avoid deadly obstacles to save Nugget. The control scheme uses two buttons.[4] Levels are randomly generated based on the player's skill level using premade 'chunks' created by the designers.[5]
Development[edit]
Development for Super Meat Boy Forever was announced in 2014 as mobile-only sequel to the original Super Meat Boy. Team Meat founders Edmund McMillen and Tommy Refenes originally teased the project as a 'live action stealth game' called A Voyeur for September, but this was later revealed to be an anagram for Super Meat Boy Forever.[2] After a few years of little to no public updates, Edmund McMillen left Team Meat and began focusing on other intellectual property such as The Binding of Isaac and The End Is Nigh. Refenes said to not 'hold your breath' expecting McMillen to come back after Super Meat Boy Forever is released.[6]
In 2017, Refenes restarted the project as full-fledged sequel and several new team members joined Team Meat to help with development. Among the new team members were Kyle Pulver (Offspring Fling, Snapshot), and Temmie Chang who worked on the art for Undertale.[6] Ridiculon, who composed the music for the PlayStation 4 version of Super Meat Boy, returned to compose the sequel's soundtrack.[7] Refenes explains that even though the game is still coming to mobile, this version was developed primarily as a console game.[4] The new version of Super Meat Boy Forever was revealed at PAX Prime 2017. The game was championed by Nintendo during their Nindies Summer 2017 Showcase,[8] and the PAX demo of the game was well received by the media.[4] The game was scheduled for an April 2019 release[9], but was pushed back to a later date on consoles with a late 2020 release for Steam.[10]

UPDATE: It turns out it's not exclusive to Switch after all, but also coming to PC, PS4, Xbox One, iOS and Android.
The Nintendo stream noted said 'Super Meat Boy Forever will make its debut on Nintendo Switch,' which we interpreted as launching exclusively on Switch, but the developer has since clarified that this is not the case. Apologies for the error!
ORIGINAL STORY: Cult classic platformer Super Meat Boy is getting a sequel that will launch exclusively on Switch in 2018.
It's called Super Meat Boy Forever, a title that may sound familiar as it was originally announced as a mobile game before getting stuck in development limbo.
Super Meat Boy Sequel Movie
The game gets its name from the fact that each stage in Super Meat Boy Forever can be replayed endlessly and will get harder each time you revisit it.
Beyond that, it will have Daily Challenges, meaning you really can play it forever as you compete with your friends.
Super Meat Boy Forever will be a true sequel too, in that the story is set after the first game. This time Super Meat Boy and his partner Bandage Girl have a kid together named Nugget. So of course the nefarious Dr. Fetus kidnaps this beefy offspring.
Developer Team Meat previously announced that the original Super Meat Boy would be making its way onto Switch. It sounds like that will also be the case, though no release window has been announced for the original title.
