Mechanics
Once again we play as the titular Meat Boy, but this time we do not have full control over him. He continuously runs ahead, we can only help him avoid all sorts of traps and obstacles. Super Meat Boy: Forever for PC, SWITCH and etc. features a single player campaign comprising six chapters.As we play, we will not only jump around, but also fight with powerful bosses. In addition to single player, the game offers the so-called Endless mode where we have to run as far as possible and survive as long as possible. Technical Aspects
Super Meat Boy: Forever for PC, SWITCH and etc. has the same visual style as the original Super Meat Boy. Once again, we get a 2D game where action is presented from a side-scrolling perspective and where dark humour is all around us. After a successful performance of Super Meat Boy Developer and Publisher, Team Meat decided to bring Meat Boy to smartphones, androids, and tablets but as the development began the devs thought of bringing a new game on all platforms and so we are now getting Super Meat Boy Forever.
Now with the arrival of new platforms to the list, the question arises of how will the game perform on the new upcoming Xbox One X. certainly Meat boys fans are expecting 4K/60 FPS from the game Xbox One but one of the devs say differently.
According to the report from GamingBolt Tommy Refenes, the designer and programmer of the super meat boy series was asked if they plan on bringing native 4K support for Xbox One X to which he replied that they have not decided if they want to implement native 4K yet as the development team is still focused on finishing the game.
“No hard ‘yes’ or ‘no’ on that at this time, but we are looking into it. We did show it at PAX playing on Xbox One and we do have access to Xbox One X kits, but right now we’re just focusing on finishing the game.”
When further questioned about the potential of performance of the game on the new Xbox One X he said
“If nothing else you’ll just have games that run smoother on Xbox One X vs Xbox One I think. 4K games look amazing, but I think most people still only have 1080p TVs.
“That’ll of course change in time, but I think the Xbox One X and PS4 Pro will offer better 1080p experiences for the most part which I’m on board with…my 4K TV only refreshes at 30fps…I’d rather play at 60FPS 1080p than 30FPS/4K.”
Refenes does make a valid point that majority of the gamers still use 1080p TVs and even if the game runs on 4K the gaming experience on a 1080p/60FPS is better than 4K/30FPS. but still adding the 4K support is always a plus point for games.
So even if the game does not receive Native 4K support the game will still run much smoother on the Xbox One X than Xbox One and possibly better than the rival PS4 Pro just because it has the higher processing power.
Anyways Super Meat Boy Forever will be releasing scheduled to release somewhere in 2018 for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and for the first time on Nintendo Switch and Android. for more information, you can visit the official website.
